hi, all I'm doing great so far.

I think this site is lovely. It’s been a lot of fun trying to find books I’ve read in the past so I can shelve them, as well as organizing shelved books. And I’m surprisingly motivated by the “prize” of adding a just-finished book to the shelves.

That said, may I second the request for a DNF shelf (or at least a way to mark books DNF)?

I’m also a bit confused about the books *within* each shelf. Is any sort of order assumed there?

    Hi @Tammy!

Hi @Ra! I'm really glad you're enjoying Bookaxe. Thanks for taking the time to let us know. I'll add your name to the "In Favour Of A DNF Shelf" arguement when we discuss it. As for organising books on each shelf, there's no right way and wrong way - it's however you feel it works for you. I like to put them still in sort of rank order, so the books at the start of each shelf are almost 'waiting' to go up when I get more spaces open. I know others who like to group series and author etc instead. I don't think we've had one organised by colour yet! Haha! That could be fun. But really, it's whatever works for you.

Hi, I like the idea of organising books within a shelf like that @Lucy. I just tried it it and then realised there was a book I hadn’t added to my shelf, and when I added it it went to the top of that shelf, but I actually wanted it near the bottom, since I had ordered quite a few of my books near the bottom it meant I had to re-shuffle a lot of the books again. When you add a book to a shelf could there be a feature where you can choose in between which books they go? Obviously it would still have to be on a specific shelf (so there’s still the right number of books on each shelf) but that might make it easier for organising the books within a shelf.

I do love your app/website.  But I would like to delete my account.  How do I do this?

  • IntrøvertedLegend 1 year ago

I've just joined Bookaxe a few days ago and am currently loving it. I do have a few minor suggestions though, I would love it if you could move the search for books bar because it is a little annoying going up and down. It would also be really helpful if you had a toturial on the app, maybe you do and I'm blind. Thanks so much for providing such a wonderful app that should have been invented years ago.

Hi @Amy. I agree that's a good idea- thanks! I'll pass it on to the team to discuss and see whether it's possible.

@IntrovertedLegend. Really pleased you're enjoying Bookaxe. Thank you so much for letting us know! We don't have a tutorial as such, but we do have little information buttons dotted around (look for the little blue 'i') which should guide you through the appropriate parts of the site/app at the most appropriate time. I hope these help! I'll pass on your comments about the search bar too, thank you.

@DavidTheReader. Sorry to hear you'd like to delete your account. We're a really new platform and developing all the time, so we hope you'll come back and see us again sometime. Drop us an email at hello@bookaxe.com from the address you signed up with and we'll sort it out for you.

What script / programming language is bookaxe built with?

  • Lucy Cruickshanks 1 year ago

Hi @Lucian. I'm afraid I'm not the tech expert in the team and none of the technical people are here at the moment. I know the front end is html but that's all I'm able to help you with!
