Here at Bookaxe we are working hard to improve the user experience all of the time by adding new features and improving the ones we already have.
I can't overstate how important user feedback is to us, to help us know how we are doing. Please do comment below with any features or improvements you would like to see.
Yep, everything helps us get better! Please do chat to us!
I must be dumb, but I wish you would add a help section. To me, arranging your shelves is not intuitive.
Hi Mark. Thanks for your comment. We've started adding some little 'i' buttons here and there to help people out with various things. Have you checked the one by the My Bookcase header on your homepage? We're constantly refining things so please do let us know if this doesn't cut it, and we'll see what we can do to make it clearer. Thanks!
Book axe is really great, love the idea of different tiers of shelves, though I’ve found when searching for books I can’t always find the right edition of the book I read, as only 9 search results come up and for a book series I read I ended having to put different editions on my shelf (i.e.book 1 showed up as a different edition to book 2).
Also I think it would be great if there could be sections for authors, so people can browse other books by the same author they liked. :-)
Duh, I did find it so I guess it must be my browser or my extensions because I can't get books to switch shelves. The double arrow switch button is not clickable for me. Thanks for responding! I love your stuff. Are you ever going to become Amazon affiliates?
I really like your idea of the different shelves maybe you could make two different tbr shelves one for the books you already own and one for the books you would like to buy. Another thing I would like to see is if you could do a progress chart or something for the books you are currently reading. And it would be great if more than one recommendation could be shown at a time
@Amy Thank you very much for your feedback.
We can definitely look at returning more results and hopefully that will solve the problem the issue with book editions. We actually already have "author pages" on our to-do list so it is great to hear that there is some demand for it - please watch this space.
@Mark Thanks also for your feedback.
Have you tried clicking on the two books you want to switch first? At this point the switch button should become clickable - it won't be clickable if you have only selected 1 book. We potentially need to make this clearer in the help text. Please do let us know if it is still not working and we will have to investigate further because it is pretty key functionality.
Re amazon we did link to them for a while but we decided to slim down the number of booksellers we linked to and they didn't make the cut primarily because for non-prime users (which we have no way of telling) their delivery charges made it hard for us to get accurate price for books.
@Laura Thank you very much for you thoughts they are super helpfull.
We have actually had a couple of other people ask about potentially splitting up the TBR shelf a bit more and we are thinking about the best way to do it. The way I currently differentiate between books I own and don't is to set a low price alert on the books that I still need to buy that way when I look at the TBR they are shown with an alarm on them. This isn't visible to anyone else that looks at my shelf though so we realise that this is not the ideal solution.
I like the idea of a progress bar for what you are currently. We are about to start working on adding some more "reading stat" features so we will see if we can slot this in somewhere.
Re returning more than one recommendation in the very early days (we are still pretty new in my eyes) we did actually return multiple recommendations but it was really hard for us to tell whether people liked them or not hence we bought in the axe feature to allow us to improve our recommendations over time.
Hiiiii!! I came to update my bookcase and just noticed we have a chat/ forum :D which makes me think that an option to recieve email notifications or just some kind of visual notification (like social media) of updates/ bumps/ new people with +90% compatibility (for example) would be great (like the one at the bottom of this comment section)... but I'm learning as well, so maybe there is already something similar and I haven't realized it yet?.
Other thing I have been wanting to ask is, is it possible to get buttons, badges, banners and such to put on our blogs and use them to link to your website and/or our bookcase? The bookcase is soo visually appealing, I love it! you can get a fair idea of someone's book taste in a glance, so I would love to show it to readers through some kind of graphic? I could do my own but would rather use something official that everyone recognizes.
You are doing a great job! Have a nice week :)
