Synopsis:

'My name is August. I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.' Auggie wants to be an ordinary ten-year-old. He does ordinary things - eating ice cream, playing on his Xbox. He feels ordinary - inside. But ordinary kids don't make other ordinary kids run away screaming in playgrounds. Ordinary kids aren't stared at wherever they go. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, Auggie has been home-schooled by his parents his whole life. Now, for the first time,...

When given the choice between being right and being kind,

Choose Kind' - Dr Wayne W Dyer

This book has changed my life. In many ways I can't describe.

I choose to read books that give powerful messages. This for me has given me a message.

We all have our opinions, but you should always do the right thing and be kind.

The story tells of Auggie Pullman, a kid with facial differences. After many operations and home schooling, his mom decides he's ready for the fifth grade.

But Auggie doesn't like the idea. Why? Because he will be different from other kids.

He doesn't want to be different. Like any of us doesn't want to be different.

Back in school, you would either be three types of people. A popular , a normal :) or an outsider

In this story, Auggie is the 'different' . And many of his classmates have roles to play in his story.

Julian, the bully, is the 'popular'  . Jack, the guy scared to be friends with Auggie, is the 'normal' :) (or so what it seems ).

But I have a 'type' of person who I class myself as but I want people who read this to consider back it or if you're a young person right now.

'Kind'

In the novel, Summer is the kind one . She defy's the normal, populars and outsiders to show one act of kindness to August Pullman. And what is that 'act of kindness' Summer performs?

'Just talking to him'

It doesn't take climbing a mountain, swimming with sharks or fighting with a thug to talk to someone.  Why are people scared of that?

Because it's not 'normal'.

Well, hello to the human race, no one is normal!

It just takes 20 seconds of courage (sorry, quoting 'We Brough A Zoo Movie') for something amazing to happen.

You may become friends with that person, you get awarded or you may even save that persons life.

“I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives. ” - August Pullman

The story tells from many perspectives, and not to spoil anything, the many narrators all have connections to Auggie and the way they perceive him. I like this way of writing as I find it to be refreshing on myself and the way I can understand peoples feelings and emotions about Auggie.

There's also Star Wars, space  and also a little doggie called Daisy.

The book is written by an amazing author R J Palcio. Palacio had a encounter with a little girl with face deformities at an ice cream store years ago. Her own kids were afraid of the little girl, and because Palcio was afraid herself, she fled with her own kids. She was so upset with herself afterwards, that she decided that she would never be so afraid of anyone who was different. That's when she started 'Wonder'.

Palcio regretted the ice cream store little girl and she made a promise. To be kind and to spread a message through her novel.

And now, it's a best selling novel and a movie (2017).

By reading this, you've made a commitment and it's shows there's a little spark inside you that could represent the kindness in you.

Will you help someone on the streets? A little boy who's lost in a store? A fellow peer in school?

Overall, I really believe every person should read this and how ever old you are,

One of my favorites. So hopeful, and yet so sad at times, with amazing messages for the younger audience. So so good!
