"The beloved, mega bestselling first novel from Audrey Niffenegger, "a soaring celebration of the victory of love over time" (Chicago Tribune). This book was an interesting reading experience for me. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie before reading the book. I didn't have any preconceptions regarding the book disturbing my reading experience going in. And I was very pleased to find that it enriched my experience. I liked the movie. Being able to use the movie characters as mental visuals for my reading was a good experience. 10/10 would recommend
The book is interesting. The story is told in alternating first-person perspectives of the two main characters which worked well. As a time travel novel, it skips around a lot but is never confusing if you note the dates and ages at the beginning of each section- that's important. Obviously, it is a love story but it is not a sticky sweet story. The struggles of the characters are real and represented. The characters are developed and relatable. I had one or two minor plot quibbles but just barely. Not enough to break my suspension of disbelief. This is an adult contemporary setting and deals with adult issues. I unreservedly recommend this novel.
