In the ruins of what was once North America lies Panem, a shining future Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is cruel and forces the districts to each send one teenage boy and one teenage girl to participate in their annual Hunger Games; a fight to the death on live TV. When 16 year old Katniss Everdeen’s sister is chosen to represent her district, Katniss steps in to take her place, despite knowing this will likely be her death sentence. But survival is second nature to Kat...
Fast paced action book starring strong and brave female lead character. However does lack emotional depth in various characters including Katniss herself. Although the description and creativity behind the events in the book is very entertaining.
I loved this when I was younger. This is THE book that got me into YA. I think it's great for what it did and how it managed to get so many people into the genre and I think it's a huge phenomenon. Would love to reread it to see my thoughts on it now!
I liked this book, though it took me awhile to finish it. Once we got to the games, they felt really intense which I enjoyed. I don’t know if I’ll read the second book in the series, but I liked this one.
