Bill (Pappy) Drake

Murder, violence, treachery. And this book was marketed to kids. A macabre and whimsical story of a boy who escapes his apartment after his parents are brutally killed. He is pursued as he crawls his way into a locked graveyard nearby. The ghostly residents who form the grave community protects him and decides to adopt and raise him. We read of all the bizarre and loving relationships with many of his new spooky family and witness all his misadventures as he grows. Mr. Gaiman is a wonder at mixing the macabre with whimsy making this a delightfully fun read for any age.
