Alicia's notes:

Oh gosh, I cried and felt depressed after reading this book. I like how it is written and the story is interesting and keeps you hooked, it is just that this is not a happy happy joy joy kind of book. If you don't mind the emotional turmoil (not in the book, in you!) then by all means read it, it is very enjoyable and you get to experience Japanese culture and nature through the eyes of the main character.

I really disliked this. Toru is an insufferable character looking for a too pure girl and it was just so boring. Full review here: https://insidemylibrarymind.wordpress.com/2016/12/16/norwegian-wood-by-haruki-murakami/
