Eleanor Cooper

Fallen Angels is, I'd say, my least favourite of the TMI series. While it is still enjoyable, you can tell that there is a clear lull in the writing. Most of the first 50 - 70% of the book is rather slow paced in an unnecessary way. I think it could've been about 70 pages shorter and we wouldn't have missed anything. It always feels like it's going to be super dark, what with Lilith, the Church of Talto, and the demon babies, but just as it starts to get there, it kind of scurries around it. I had completely forgotten about the church and their baby experiments, and that should be something you remember. I think if she'd gone dark in this book, and went with it full-heartedly, it would've been a stronger 'first book' in the second half of the series.

That being said, it's a Cassandra Clare book, so I loved it. I like how the biblical stories are much more prominent in this book, and you can tell how the characters have matured, although I did think that (despite them being the main characters) there was too much focus on Clary and Jace, and more time could've been spent on the more minor characters (Izzy, Alec, Magnus, Maia, etc.)
