Interesting consept executed quite well, though l could recognise a lot of common tropes and an all too familiar mcguffin (anyone else thought it was similar to the One Ring from Lotr? No? Just me?). I actually enjoyed it's straightforwardness and simple story (that promises to become much more complicated in the next books). It was refreshing to go back to a simple adventure, and it was well-written. The magic system, world and some details were creative and intriguing, but it wasn't the perfect book for someone searching for a very unique, non-tropey read.
